COUNSELLING SUPERVISION

Working Collaboratively

I am a qualified Counselling Supervisor.  While I work from a person-centred perspective, my approach is underpinned by Inskipp and Proctor’s Functional Model and Hawkins & Shohet’s Seven Eyed Model of Supervision.  I work in a way that invites you to look at possible blind spots and focus on different permutations of relationships, the client experience, the dynamics between you, (the counsellor) and client, the inter-relational experience between us as supervisor/supervisee, fantasy relationships as well as the wider context including social constructs, sense of culture, difference and diversity.

We would consider the invitation and temptation to collude and how to deliver and hold challenge.
We would strive to offer the core conditions, paying attention to the complex nature of the counselling relationship, offering you the opportunity to keep the core conditions central to your work hoping to develop conscious congruence, and a growing understanding of its use.

Supervision is available to qualified counsellors and counsellors-in-training (and on placement).

I have supervised a diverse group of counsellors ranging from trainees to experienced practitioners. It's a pleasure to support the work of others and to observe and foster professional development. If you're interested in working collaboratively with me please get in touch.

COUNSELLING FOR COUNSELLORS

Supporting Your Process

COUNSELLING SESSIONS

Life throws many surprises at us, trained therapist or not; struggles develop, emotional strength can be challenged and at times hard to hold on to.

I offer sessions that give you space to explore what is coming up in your life that might be interrupting your focus from your client work, or is distressing you so as to protect the space you hold for your clients.

We both have counselling skills, theoretical knowledge and understanding; we will talk, the focus will be you and we will put our minds together to work through what has come up for you.

You might choose a one-off session, have a longer block or come and go as you want to.

Our appointments will fit around our diaries and can be face to face or online.

 COUNSELLING

I have long believed in the power of therapy and that our past experiences play a role in shaping our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I offer an open and safe space where we can explore what is going on for you in your life.

Sometimes we reach a point in our lives when coping strategies that have served us well in the past, no longer help us through difficult times. This can lead to frustration, confusion, anger, anxiety, depression and a sense of unsettledness or stuckness. I believe that an exploration of the past is often useful, particularly to the degree that it continues to influence our lives.

Counselling can help.

By working from a place of compassion I aim to build a supportive and grounding relationship with you hoping that you gain the support you can use to enable choice in your life.

ABOUT ME

Jessica Fish Dip Couns, MNCS (Accred).

I am a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor and Counselling Supervisor with my core approach based in person-centred therapy. I believe that your own experience of self is paramount and as such it is my commitment to respect that, and offer you insight and perspective.

While I work in a person-centred way, I also draw on other approaches to inform my work with you (for example Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic). I acknowledge that each individual is very different and therefore what works for one person will not work for all.

I hold a Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Counselling Supervision, and the Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling; I am a registered member of the NCS, I follow their guidelines and work to their ethical framework and that of the BACP. I have taught on counselling courses in Bristol and have a supervisory practice working alongside other counsellors.

I am based in Northam and Bideford, North Devon and work online
